When we first launched our jewelry collections, we enjoyed learning about the long history of lockets. Monica, being a photographer, had also spent endless hours browsing flea markets where she often found vintage lockets, some dating from as early as the beginning of the nineteenth century. From both those journeys there was one common thread that emerged. Virtually every locket encountered held only one or two pictures. %expanded-mobile%
To find a 4 (four) picture locket necklace was like sighting a rare bird or animal in the wild. This was a discovery that would be ever present as we at MRK began to plan and build our collection of locket necklaces, and It would also become a challenge in product design. Whether we were designing gold lockets in 18k, or sterling silver lockets, we knew that the multiple hinges and moving parts needed to create any high-quality locket would require extensive engineering and craftsmanship. So, to create pieces that would actually hold four pictures would need an even higher level of workmanship.%expanded-desktop%
When we first added these four picture lockets to our collection of lockets for women, we wanted each style to have a two-sided inner frame, and two hinged doors on the outer frames that could be opened and closed to keep the respective pictures behind them safe and secure. In all our journeys we had never encountered lockets built that way, but it became the exacting standard for all our four image lockets. To precisely fit that many hinges and moving parts into such a small space is an engineering accomplishment, and we are proud to offer it in all the lockets in this collection. As with all our lockets, you can personalize these styles with four photos you choose from your desktop, tablet or phone using our Locket Bar technology. This software application let's you easily size and print (at home or work) the photos you need, so you can create your own custom locket in just a few minutes.
